White gloves…

If, like me, you are a middle-aged singleton and rarely get invited out for supper, you will probably have sat in on a Saturday evening and watched the very good history programmes on BBC Four (which I see is coming under threat again as a new DG of the BBC steps in).

You may have noticed that a key part of the programmes is medieval manuscripts, used instead of archive film or photos for fairly obvious reasons.

So why is it that the presenters never use white gloves when handling these precious treasures? Their nasty sweaty little hands are covered in all sorts of nasties which will rot these great works for generations to come..

Makes me reet mad, let me tell thee…
